A chemical accident started a fire at RMIT’s city campus this morning.
Officers from Victoria Police said emergency services had received a call at 4.30am.
There were several fire trucks on the scene and two police vans. Officers advised there were no injuries but that paramedics were on standby.
RMIT campus security officer Mohammad Masood advised that Buildings 10, 12, 14, and 8 had been affected and would be closed for the duration of Sunday.
Masood advised classes that had been scheduled in the affected buildings would be rescheduled in areas not affected.
Franklin Street from the intersection of Swanston Street up to Victoria Street was cordoned off and officers were unsure when the campus would reopen.
